Thomas Hunter

Thomas comes from a long line of well respected Starfleet personnel. His great grandparents were members of the lost crew of the USS Excelsior (One Constant Star), his grandfather would spend the first twelve years of his life in an alternate universe – the reason for Thomas’ red eyes – and would eventually become a rescue pilot, then a helmsman and eventually command a starship of his own.

Thomas’ father was as veteran of the Battle of Wolf 359, where he was part of rescue operations to retrieve escape pods and shuttlecraft, while Thomas’ mother was one of the field doctors, who treated the injured survivors – That is where they met. Thomas’ parents would later serve aboard the same starship during the Dominion wars, where they broke through enemy blockades, dropped ground troops and rescued injured soldiers.

Thomas was born soon after the Dominion Wars on Earth, but was infused with a sense of duty, after hearing war stories – so much so that he would use his grandfather’s flight simulator to play rescue games and then, when he reached the age of seventeen, he would join Starfleet Academy.

Thomas was very academically successful, and passed the vast majority of his courses with flying colours, though he would find himself in trouble several times for fighting, reckless flying and some general rule-breaking.

Eventually, Thomas would straighten up his act, due to some good mentoring and being directed to the Advanced Tactics Program, where he flourished and discovered his talents for combat operations, extractions and security. Thomas was then challenged with the Kobayashi Maru test, which he performed well in, though the results of the test have been classified.

All of this led to Thomas being recruited into Red Squad, where he developed his skills further and became team leader in training exercises and was a trusted point of communication between the instructors and the other members of Red Squad.
