He has high aspirations, wishing for his own command one day, but whether that is for his own sense of achievement or to please his parents is somewhat ambiguous.

Appearance

Personality

Calvin Eickhoff is a career-centred individual, his goal has only ever been to command his own vessel. As a result, he has become rather selfish and inconsiderate of others. He is overtly quiet and keeps to himself, he only opens up to a select group of people who he was grown to trust but otherwise the only conversation you will have with him is if he is barking orders at you.

History

Pre-Starfleet

Calvin Eickhoff was born in Munich, Earth on the 4th of February 2351 to Carl & Hilda Eickhoff. Both parents were closed off, strict and assumptive, they knew what Calvin’s life would look like.

In his early years, Calvin struggled to socialise and often stook to reading over making friends. This reassured his parents, distractions were not favoured.  The one distraction that his parents allowed was model trains, Calvin obsessed over it. In any spare moment between reading or studying he painted, decorated and perfected his historic train collection.

At the age of 14, Calvin fell in love with a girl from school named Emma. They were inseparable spending every possible moment together whether that was in their breaks or sneaking out after dark, they could not spend enough time in each others company. That was until Calvin’s parents put a stop to it, after all his studies came first, and moved Calvin to a different school. This put a strain of Calvin’s social ability and willingness to engage with others, unfortunately this also built a resentment between Calvin and his parents.

At 18, Calvin had to make a big decision on whether to join Starfleet Academy immediately or wait until he felt ready to join. After a lot of discussion it was decided Calvin would get his undergraduate degree and then join Starfleet.

Starfleet Academy

After successful competition of his Undergraduate Degree, Calvin applied to Starfleet Academy and joined in 2371 at the age of 21.

Calvin was an aspirational student, receiving top marks across the board, however at the sacrifice of his social life. His spare time was filled with reading past Starfleet missions, he read Captain’s logs back to front hoping to understand and mimic their career paths.

In his third year he was brought in by one of his Professors to discuss his career growth, his professor had noticed his inability to make friendships with others and following an in-depth discussion it was decided that Calvin should spend a year on placement. He was notified near the end of the year that he would serve a year on the USS Nightingale.

Cadet Placement – USS Nightingale

He was brought aboard the USS Nightingale early in the year. On his first day he was first introduced to his mentor for the year Lieutenant JG Wilson, a sprite and excitable engineering officer. At first, Wilson overwhelmed the young cadet but throughout the year he began to trust and open up to her. A few weeks into his placement Calvin faced his first crisis, a federation colony required assistance due to a colony-wide medical crisis. During this crisis the cadet was assigned to assist the Transport Chief in getting as many colonists onboard as could fit on the Nightingale. This left its mark on Eickhoff however taught several lessons that were very valuable to him over the coming years.

The placement was rounded off with a dinner at the Captain’s table where the cadet had the opportunity, alongside his mentor, to get insight into the experiences of the senior staff. At which the Captain gave deep insight into the career path she went down and the valuable lessons she has learnt along the way.

USS Sentinel

2376, Calvin Eickhoff was a fresh new Ensign and fresh graduate of Starfleet Academy. Calvin’s first assignment was to the USS Sentinel, an Intrepid-Class vessel. After much deliberation, Calvin decided that the Operations Department was best suited to his skill set and as such was made one of the several Operations Officers onboard.

A year into his assignment the USS Sentinel ran into trouble when the primary systems on the ship were sabotaged while the ship was carrying valuable Federation assets. The crew entered a frenzy when it was identified that the nearest Starfleet vessel was at least one week away and the ship had a limited supply until then. Unfortunately, due to an incident in engineering and lack of available medical equipment, one of the Ensigns that joined the Sentinel with Eickhoff had lost their life.

After just two years at the rank of Ensign, the Commanding Officer, under recommendation from the Chief Operations Officer, promoted Eickhoff to Lieutenant Junior Grade.

The USS Sentinel did not often venture far out from Federation Space and was regarded as a less interesting ship, perfect for an Officer like Eickhoff who intended on a slow burning career to the Captain’s chair. In 2386, nearly 10 years from Eickhoff joining the Sentinel, Calvin was offered to become the ship’s Transport Chief following his previous promotion to Lieutenant.

USS Glacier

In 2395, Lieutenant Commander Eickhoff was offered the position of Assistant Chief of Operations onboard a Galaxy-Class vessel. Just four later, Eickhoff was made Chief Operations Officer on the vessel as well as a promotion to Commander.

In 2400, Commander Eickhoff was offered to join the Captaincy program, an opportunity he’s been seeking since birth.

USS Sacramento

In 2402, Commander Eickhoff became the First Officer on the USS Sacramento, however due to Starfleet Command being unable to find an adequate Commanding Officer Eickhoff was made acting Commanding Officer for an extended period until Starfleet were able to find a permanent Captain.
