Biography

Early Life

Rosle was born to Jeyla and Brant, two researchers who worked at an engineering institute in the Querella Province of Tandar Prime. Though she was interested in the work her parents did, engineering wasn’t something she was interested in as she got older. Spending time with her cousins in the capital city of her homeworld, she became interested in the various ships that visited it. After watching multiple ships and shuttles leave the capital city of Tandar Prime, Rosle developed a keen interest in becoming a pilot. The way the ships soared high up in the sky and gracefully manoeuvred through the air left her in awe. She imagined herself being in the cockpit, controlling the vessel and exploring the vastness of space. The thrill of adventure and the sense of freedom of being a pilot were too irresistible to ignore. Rosle knew this was her calling and was determined to make her dream a reality.

She worked hard at school, achieving excellent grades that were good enough for her to apply to join Starfleet. Before applying to the Academy, she spent a couple of years as an interim at her parent’s research institute. Her time there gave her the basic principles in understanding warp theory and starship design.

Starfleet Career

Starfleet Academy

Rosle attended Starfleet Academy on Earth and discovered her time at Earth was even more eye-opening than expected. In Rosle’s first year at Starfleet Academy, she was excited and nervous at the same time. She had dreamt of joining Starfleet since she was a little girl and was determined to make the most of her time there. The first few weeks were tough as she struggled to adjust to the rigorous routine and coursework demands. But she persevered and soon found her footing. One of the highlights of her first year was the field training exercise where she and her team had to work together to solve a simulated crisis. It was challenging, but Rosle relished the opportunity to put her skills to the test.

Entering her second year, Rosle specialised in Astronautical Tactics and Aerospace Engineering. Becoming a pilot was still her passion. While out on training manoeuvres in 2386, her squadron was ordered to cut short its training and join in the relief efforts needed for Mars. The devastating Synth attack on Mars shocked her and her fellow cadets. As they were only in a runabout, they could only save a few people at a time. They flew in between the devastation, acting as a mobile transporter enhancer. They could beam people off the planet and divert their patterns to another starship nearby. For their excellent work, the entire squadron was commended by their superiors.

Her final two years at the Academy were uneventful. She continued to work hard and graduated in the top ten per cent of her class.

USS Southampton (NCC-79821)

Assigned as a shuttle pilot on board the Nebula-class starship, USS Southampton, Rosle’s time on the ship initially wasn’t one she had expected. The Southampton was assigned to the new shared border with the Romulan Republic. While the vessel aided several Romulan worlds that were once refugee settlements, Rosle found herself flying multiple missions in shuttles and runabouts when the ship was giving support.

During one mission, her quick thinking and reaction skills saved a Federation diplomat from being assassinated by Tal Shiar agents. For this, she was commended, and, in 2390, she was moved from being just a shuttle pilot and assigned to Flight Control Officer duties on the bridge. Flying the ship on the Beta or Gamma shifts gave her the confidence to improve her piloting skills further.

By 2393, she had proven herself on many occasions in many tight situations where her flying abilities ensured the Southampton made it out safely. As a result of this, her captain put her forward to attend the Advanced Tactical Training. After almost a year of working hard, she returned to Southampton with the promotion to lieutenant.

Though she enjoyed her time on the ship and made many good friends, Rosle felt it was time to try something different. She applied to join Starbase 38 as a fighter pilot.

Starbase 38

Over the next six years, Rosle found the challenge of being a starfighter pilot on one of Starfleet’s advanced starbases stimulating. Having to run constant patrols of the Barzan system to ensure its wormhole was well-defended made her assignment worthwhile. Her tenure at Guardian Station allowed her to expand her leadership skills as she rose through positions of commanding her own squadrons, eventually becoming the deputy starfighter squadron leader.

In 2399, her squadron defended the station when the Breen raided it. Though they sustained heavy losses, Rosle survived the assault and led some fighters in defeating enemy vessels.

USS Odyssey (NCC-80000)

When the USS Odyssey returned from the Delta Quadrant in early 2401, Starfleet assigned an entire starfighter squadron. Rosle was put forward for a promotion to lieutenant commander and highly recommended to command the new group selected to join the Odyssey.

Rosle’s first lot of action was during the ship’s assignment to the Deneb Sector to respond to the sudden incursion of the Dominion’s Lost Fleet. Though the new starfighter pilots didn’t see much action until the end of the crisis, the addition of the starfighter group to the Odyssey was praised by Fleet Captain McCallister.

Shortly after this event, Rosle was present during the Frontier Day disaster, when the younger crew members became Borg done. Though she could not do much to save the ship, Rosle did assist Lieutenant Commander Jen in securing certain areas to keep their partially assimilated crew away from those like her, who were not affected by the Jupiter signal.

When the ship eventually returned to the Delta Quadrant, Rosle found herself helping with training the cadets who were also assigned to the Odyssey. She enjoyed this chance to teach future pilots and would take them out in either starfighters or shuttles to get them used to the ‘real’ thing. In mid-2401, she and Jen decided to start a romantic relationship.

In late 2401, when the Odyssey was attacked, Rosle was forced to take the helm and fly the ship after Lieutenant Marova was killed. Though her time at the conn was thrilling, she turned down Captain Duncan’s offer of becoming the Chief Flight Control Officer several months later. She wanted to continue leading the squadron’s vast number of starfighters.
