On 2385 he turned 18, and applied for Starfleet. His grades was good enough to pass into Starfleet. But Starfleet had all cadets help with the Romulan star catastrophic event that was happening and they needed all hands on deck. Simon was sent to the USS Baratoga to help with the refugees. His first reaction was that why is the Federation helping a enemy since they don’t like us why help them he thought to himself. During the evacuation, he learned to fly a shuttle from Romulan to Baratoga with finesse and speed, since the other pilots where tired and needed a break. He didn’t like it to much but was on the command and a minor in the engineering path. His career path was one of hardship during the Kobayashi Maru he wanted to be a good captain he listened to his crew. He tried multiple times with the program before realizing he needed to be soft at times while in command to let others speak and listen to their ideas.

6 years had past when he got out of the academy not due to his lack of grades but his dedication on wanting better for himself to learn the new stuff in 2391. His first captain was with the ship USS West Virginia California class and he was a engineering officer on that ship for about 2 years and was working during his academy years there. Him and the captain got along great with the chief engineer looking surprised he didn’t go down the engineering path of Starfleet academy.
