“Men may die, but the fabrics of our free institutions remain unshaken.” – Chester A. Arthur, 1881

Following the decimation of the federation fleet at the Frontier Day celebrations in 2401, Starfleet turns to mothballed ships to put back into service and bolster the fleet. U.S.S. Fairfax is one such vessel, reinstated and returned to frontline duties.

Her design may be dated, and she wears the scars of thousands of light-years and decades of operation under her belt. But she is far from obsolete.
