USS Lakota (NCC-42768)

A contemporary and versatile upgrade to one of Starfleet's most legendary explorers, Lakota serves proudly as the flagship of Lakota Squadron, spearheading the squadron's exploration of deep space and beyond, whilst proudly flying Starfleet's flag around the Federation.

USS Lakota

Excelsior II-class • NCC-42768 • Task Force 17

USS Lakota is an Excelsior-II-class heavy cruiser assigned as the flagship of the Fourth Fleet’s Lakota Squadron. Continuing a long and proud legacy, she is the fourth vessel to bear the proud Lakota name. Representing a contemporary and versatile upgrade to the iconic Excelsior-class starships of yesteryear, she is a versatile ship taking on a path of her own in these challenging times, operating in some of the most dangerous areas of the galaxy.

Having bounced back from the loss of their captain during the deadly Frontier Day disaster, the crew found new life when merged with new colleagues from aboard the Hathaway, and with Fleet Captain Keziah Nazir at the helm, only for her tenure to end after revelations about her personal life became public. With trust and belief at an all-time low, Starfleet returns a familiar face to the ship in the form of the personable Captain Giarvar Kauhn. The appointment of Commander Kerina Marten as XO, someone believed to be the architect of Nazir’s downfall, ensures that another period of transition results in increased tensions, with clashes between old and new personnel threatening to ruin the harmony found under the Nazir regime.  Can Kauhn balance his commitments and restore the crew’s belief and hope for the future as Lakota tackles some of its most dangerous missions yet.

The stories of Lakota Squadron are rated 2-2-2 for mature subject matter, including some moderate violence, language and sexual content.

Lakota Heavy Cruiser Squadron

Lakota Heavy Cruiser Squadron, or, informally, Lakota Squadron, is a squadron of the Fourth Fleet’s Task Force 17, centered on the adventures of several starships and their crew as they carry out a wide variety of critical missions across Federation space and beyond. Formed in the aftermath of Frontier Day 2401, Lakota Squadron is composed of three starships capable of carrying out the various roles and responsibilities dictated by the mandate of the United Federation of Planets. The composition of vessels assigned to the squadron is such that virtually any objective can be completed, whether within the confines of Federation space, or far from safety in far-flung areas of the known galaxy.
