The USS San Diego was in the middle of repairing an Angosian freighter when the Blackout struck. With numerous distress beacons suddenly lighting up the dark, the crew of the San Diego finds themselves reduced to low warp speeds with sensors and communications almost crippled as they work to gather up as many of the civilian freighters and transports as possible to lead to Starbase 93, all the while dodging hostile Vaadwaur warships that appear seemingly from nowhere.

Meanwhile, the Starships USS Neptune and USS Hydra from Neptune Squadron, reacting to an emergency call of their own, discover the Blackout has cut them off as well, unable to contact Starbase 93 or their home port of Mirage Station. Suffering from the same effects as the San Diego, the two ships begin to make their best speed to Starbase 93 to regroup with other elements of Task Force 93.

Finally there is Mirage Station, a beacon in the shadows that while mighty, is also a beacon for the Vaadwaur. The stations crew has become well aware of this and all are asking the same question, can they hold out until a relief fleet arrives?
