Elias walked Into the holodeck with long strides while holding his PADD on his left arm. He walked up to the computer and said, “Computer. Mission parameters, a shuttle craft, namely the new-Atlantic class with science configurations. Aperture simulation, event horizon, with no other restriction. Automated piloting system.“

The computer beeped and the holodeck was ready, Elias turned his head towards his new friend who was still looking around the holoroom, “Zion, you ready? The shuttle has science configurations which should help with our calculations while we attempt to find the correct configuration for the shields so that it can withstand the different variables inside the aperture.“

Zion after observing the synthetization of the holodeck’s parameters, and understanding what Elias said. Began to consider some of the possible scientific configurations for the shields of the new-Atlantic class shuttle. Reminding himself, that before he thinks too deeply about possible configurations for its shields, he will ask his friend, Elias, for an in-depth explanation on the simulation that’s being run. For now, Zion pondered about the scientific configurations that could be used within the nexus to help eliminate it and came up with a method that might be of some use.

Zion considered the following ideas, and then stated to Elias. “If the variables inside the Apertures, act as a nexus point where the physics are variable. There must be a way to introduce a definitive value, by either applying or trading some form of energy with the nexus. This can either be done through transformation of the energy into a polarized and inverted field. This can be done according to my following crude working theory in progress” stated Zion. He then elaborated, “Because the nexus is emitting tachyon particles as a byproduct of its placement, it must mean that we can flood the nexus with anti-matter, through anti tachyon pulses. The theory suggests, that as the graviton distortions are currently being displaced outwards. The anti-tachyon pulses will reverse the scenario with the added introduction of anti-matter. This would reverse the force of the gravitational waves, and force the apertures to close while eliminating the secondary risk of antimatter annihilation. Due to the collapse of the nexus. Through the reversal of the gravitational waves. Therefore, leading to absolute and total equilibrium within the state of the system.”

Zion after stating all that he had said, took a large breath, and exhaled, “it’s good to get all that out your system, sometimes ideas come to you and you got to express them, however trivial or complex they might be. This is natural to us science officers, as you would very well know”. He stated, afterwards continuing to chuckle to himself for at least a good minute. He then said with concern, this however only remains a theory, and until its tested, and the necessary steps are taken to establishing those tests, it remains outside our realm of options. We should work towards however, first verifying that we can stabilize the shields of the shuttle as it enters the nexus. What do you recommend we do in that regard?” Zion asked with perplexment.

Elias brought out a virtual whiteboard to make annotation on then said, “Say, we have matter and anti matter added together which could possibly make gamma waves which the shuttle would withstand its effects. Then, uhm when we release the anti matter into the aperture the reversing gravitational waves would make us withstand its effects thus having the aperture closed!“

Elias brought out a hologram of the presented details, then used his hands to move it around, “This is the aperture and the event horizon, inputting our current variables, we can see some weird changes already. Time dilation is one of the seen properties inside.“

Entering the shuttle, Elias started to configure some of the systems so that it was possible for new systems to be installed and experiments to be done. “Zion, please run possible shield configurations that can protect us from the time dilation and the apertures never ending variables.”

Zion acknowledging that we both understood the assignment, went onto configure the shields to withstand the subspace distortions generated by the apertures. In his efforts, he worked towards creating the Starfleet textbook technique for generating dynamic shield placement, also known as DSP. DSP essentially referred to creating a shield around a starship that distorted spacetime, like a warp field, but without moving the ship’s location or while it’s in motion. It works as the standard buffer between physical collisions while the ship is at warp. As warp fields fold spacetime through warp coils found within their respective warp cores. The plasma generated within them from dilithium crystals cause a chain reaction that can be directed through deflector arrays to create a subspace barrier.  DSP’s are generated by the ship’s deflector array in much the same way.

Zion after setting up the appropriate DSP configuration for the shuttle, attempted to do something experimental. Of which was necessary for the mission. To configure the DSP to act as a interference field that will maintain local dimensional continuity. So that when the shuttle crosses between the apertures event horizon. The physics of the shuttles dimension will remain stable. A main priority for Zion, is by his interest, to create a failsafe that should the shuttle be hit with a graviton pulse. It should maintain the ability to prevent system failure. For if it does fail, time as it remains within the boundaries of the shuttle, will have unforeseeable effects, that may lead to disaster.

Therefore Zion, carefully adjusts the deflector array, to output the appropriate DSP configuration, and installs a secondary deflector in case the primary one fails. After doing so, Zion signals the all clear to his friend and partner in this scientific endeavor Elias, “Its looking like it’s all good to go on my side of things” Zion said as he gave a thumbs up with mighty intent.

Elias did the final checks on the systems, and started the simulation with the lowest setting on the shield emitters that were specially modified by him to increase as each simulation completes, Elias sat down and started calculations while looking towards at Zion, “Well then my friend, this starts our research. I have control over the systems as we speak, if it goes well, release the anti-matter. I am curious on how it will affect the aperture.“

Elias then said, “Computer, start simulation.” And thus it starts, the planning and researching of a way to close an aperture. This was what he dreamed off, real life astrophysics, and to contribute something to history and science.
