After days of searching, nothing was found, not a hull plate or a warp signature. Nothing. Eclipse just disappeared, a ship with a full class of cadets, an officer, and his friend K’Nala were vanished as if a bad magic trick went terribly wrong. Now the blackout was occurring, and it limited everything, warp speed was shady at best, communication was a wild card. The frustration was building up, as Adrián was walking into Sazra office “I got nothing” He announced holding a PADD and throwing it on the table that slides to Sazra “The only thing I got is a gap in the Grim Wall as if a large space whale took a bite of it.”
Taking a deep breath, Sazra rubs her template and picked up the PADD, looking at the data. She knew that this was getting to her staff, it was getting to her as well. She trusted the Eclipse to K’Nala, and now she was nowhere to be found. What was worse in this case? Not knowing she was either alive or death? Placing the PADD down, she leans in her chair, “Calm down…”
“You want me to calm down?” Adrián points out to the galaxy, the Grim Wall in the distance, “We can’t find one trace of K’Nala or the cadets. How am I supposed to calm down?!”
Her eyes met those of Adrián as a light flare of red flicker in her pupils that indicate that the fatigue was catching up to Sazra. She nods slowly, “I understand that those are hard to swallow, it is for all of us. But as you might have noticed, we are in a bit of a crisis. Sazra was not in the mood to have this discussion again and taps on the table. We are dealing with a possible galactic wide crisis. I have no clue what is going on since we lost contact with Starfleet and Fourth Fleet HQ.”
“I don’t know if Gemini is fine, I don’t know where Eclipse is, I fucking don’t know where the new ship is that was supposed to be here a month ago!” She slams her fist on the table and breathes calmly in and out. Sazra shrugs, “I have manage to get a brief connection with Archanis Station, and they are experiencing the same problem as we do.” She swiped her finger over the console on her table as a 3D model appears of Betreka and Archanis region, “I called you back because I have a task for you”.
Adrián had calmed down, cussing under his breath and looked at the 3D model, “How did they even manage to get a connection going with you?” He was curious, many engineers and scientist tried to break through the blackout and nothing really worked.
She raised her hands, “I don’t know, but Admiral Grayson and I agreed that communication is the best thing we can have. Information is power, and we are lacking it quite seriously. So I need you and the Himalaya to travel to the Archanis borders where you will meet the USS Pacific Palisades to connect” Sazra rubs her template, when was the last time she slept, it has been hours since she had a comfortable rest.
“To do what? If communication is the key, us being there will not improve anything?” Adrián challenged the assignment almost immediately.
Slamming her hands on the table as another flicker of red glow crosses her eyes “Listen” Sazra knew she were harsh right now, but these interruptions and challenging her was not the right moment or place. “Himalaya will be dropping communication arrays to create a communication grid from here all the way to Archanis Station. We will be able to get communication out to all planets that are now isolated and potentially need help”.
For a brief moment, Adrián was quiet, as he knew he was pushing his luck with Sazra. The idea sounded old fashion, vintage to be fair. He looked outside as he took a deep breath, “It’s crazy, there is no certainty that it will work, that it will pave the road for us to get communication. This system is outdated and has failures that need constant checks” Adrián paces slowly around in the office “But it might work, if we are able to install self-regulating repair modules on these arrays, it may take extra time”.
“Can you do it” Sazra looked at the pacing Adrián who came to a halt and looked back at her.
“Yes” He gave a brief and direct answer to the projected assignment, “I require time, but my industrial replicators can make them in the Himalaya. The configuration will be the main issue. I need to get my team to work to design a communication array that is able to survive out there” Adrián shrugs “You’re asking the impossible, Admiral Grayson is asking the impossible”.
“Because we are out of options Adrián, we need to get some information flow going, this is our best bet” Sazra tried her best to defend the idea “I give you all the resources you need, but time is against us. We don’t know what is going on out there, and this will clear some of that unknown. I will assign Kusanagi to continue its search for Eclipse”.
He rather wanted to get this done by himself, but his searching had concluded to nothing “I will send the information to Kusanagi, I hope they can find Eclipse” Adrián was disgusted by giving up, but he had to and understood that lives were at stake if he didn’t do anything. He nodded slowly, trying to calm himself to agree with this vintage idea. “I better get going…”
“Thank you” This was the first time Sazra was able to say something out of the depth of her heart, she looked emotional and wrecked.
Adrián nodded and walked to the door, “Get some rest Captain, you look like shit” He walked out of the office to get his ship ready for an assignment that was going to be a headache from the start to the end.
