USS Polaris (NCC-80001)
While research and development activities typically occur on starbases and outposts within Federation territory, sometimes the greatest discoveries are made amongst the stars. This is the mission of the Polaris Squadron.
While research and development activities typically occur on starbases and outposts within Federation territory, sometimes the greatest discoveries are made amongst the stars. This is the mission of the Polaris Squadron.
The USS Polaris is an Odyssey-class heavy explorer that serves as the flagship of Polaris Squadron and home of the Advanced Science, Technology and Research Activity. The Polaris is equipped with cutting edge laboratories, sensor suites, and analysis cores that give it near-parity with top-of-the-line R&D facilities, while having a degree of mobility such facilities do not have. It is also well appointed for frontier diplomatic duties, but it has some tactical drawbacks due to its size and purpose that are augmented by Polaris Squadron’s other vessels.
The stories of Polaris Squadron are rated 2-2-2 for mature subject matter, including violence, language and sexual content.
Polaris Squadron is a multi-mission flag squadron under the command of Fleet Admiral Allison Reyes that supports two specialized units and three overall mission profiles:
The flagship of Polaris Squadron is the USS Polaris, an Odyssey-class heavy explorer that hosts the Advanced Science, Technology and Research Activity, and the headquarters of Polaris Squadron is Archanis Station, a Canopus-class starbase from whence sector operations of the Archanis Sector are managed.

USS Ingenuity, USS Kennedy and USS Polaris
There was something about fresh air. It just hit differently than the recycled stuff. Although Lepia IV’s villages left much to be desired, once he got beyond the dilapidated buildings and ailing fields, the place appeared pristine. Save for a few flowers wilting a bit too early in the [...]

USS Ingenuity, USS Kennedy and USS Polaris
The contrast couldn’t have been more stark, and it wasn’t just the sleek lines, polished surfaces, and glistening equipment of the Ingenuity‘s science facility. It was the people too. In one day, they’d made more progress here than she had in four days aboard the Kennedy. [...]

Considerations of Containment and Control
USS Ingenuity, USS Kennedy and USS Polaris
The stars raced by. They looked the same, but it didn’t feel the same. She’d been to the far end of the galaxy and back again, but it wasn’t the same as what she’d left. Not with so many gone, those lost in their fall, those sacrificed in their return, and those departed in [...]

An Infection of Planetary Proportions
USS Ingenuity, USS Kennedy and USS Polaris
The unassuming science lab was silent, save for the whir of the centrifuge. The rest of the small science team had called it hours ago, and while she’d debated calling them back, what would they add? A cartographer, a physicist, an anthropologist, and a xenolinguist would offer no more [...]
