The promenade was buzzing with energy, with merchants not afraid anymore of what they can say or do without having the Syndicate breathing down their neck. The council of merchants has agreed with Starfleet to implement a Starfleet Academy section in one of the former Syndicate hideouts. It was still being remodeled by Himalaya’s engineers, but the classroom was already full of the new arrivals that would soon call this their new home until graduation.
The antennae were moving around as Alara was sitting on her desk facing the others, “I didn’t expect them to throw us into the field already.” She was pumped to get into the action, a time when she would be able to prove herself and impress the Hecate command chain.
Grinning from his chair, as he combs his dark green hair “New ship, new toys…count me in” Eli was already considering the possibilities of what ship they would be getting on. The things he could discover and the engineering as his personal playground.
“Well a field mission would offer real diplomatic challenges, this is exactly what is desired” They wanted to get into the unknown, facing the Klingons, learn from their current situation or perhaps the current political situation. Shaari was ready for it, ready to face this challenge “On the other hand, it might be that we shall not be seeing any species” Looking at their side “Perhaps it’s more your area, Verrik”
Mild eyebrow raises “Practical applications is acceptable, we are able to gather valuable information from the Grim Wall, we might be in for quite the discovery” Verrik was in for gathering data, that’s all.
Playing with her buns, Liss nervously shows her excitement as in the back of her mind she is worried about keeping everyone safe, yet on the other side she was quietly thrilled to help on a real mission. “I need to get my medical equipment checked, do I need to pack my bag? Are we going to stay away for a long time?” Liss mind was trying to think of anything.
“Finally” A Tellarite young man mutters as he leans in his chair backward with crossed arms. “Stop worrying about the equipment, Liss, we got Jorven that will dive into those things.” He points at another cadet. “About time we did something useful.” He was not impressed with the long delays and yet without showing it, Threx was excited with what was planned for them.
In the corner, a young red head girl was cleaning her nails, showing little excitement that the group was showing. Rhixia became the wary one, unknown what this field trip would bring them. They have not even met the dean and counselor yet, would they be able to command like Captain Kobahl and Captain Ruslanovna can? Or they’re getting babysitters?
“Finally, we’re going somewhere!” A cheerful Jorven said as he looked at Threx “You got it mate, I will get those supplies fashionable ordered. If someone needed stuff, let me know, and I will have contact with the station’s operations to sort it out” He pulled up a thumbs up and a wide smile on his face.
“That is the spirrrit, cadet” The class attention looked at the voice that had entered the rooms, seeing a Caitian entering the room, followed by a somewhat calming dark tan Vulcan. “Please be seated” K’Nala stated, walking to the front.
Rolling her eyes, Rhixia looked at the two officers “babysitters” she mutters under her breath looking outside the window into the promenade. As the rest of the class gets seated waiting for the officers to speak.
“My name is Lieutenant K’Nala, I am Hecate Station Firrrst Officerrr. As of today I will also be yourrr dean” K’Nala looked at her side, “This is Lieutenant Hefaam, the class counselorrr. He will be responsible forrr your mental health” Taking a deep breath after seeing Hefaam nod to the class as she refocuses on the class, “Seeing yourrr excitement, I presume you have hearrrd that therrre will be a field trrrip. You will be assigned to the USS Eclipse” She taps on the desk showing a holographic small 3D model of the protostar.
Almost everyone looked with amazed to the 3D model, Eli grin becoming wider knowing that this was the newest model. Alara wondering what weapons would be on it, Threx narrowing his eyes, knowing that this would be a fine ship to start on. “What will be our assignments on the Eclipse” Raised her hand and spoke without waiting.
“I will be the designated Captain and Lieutenant Hefaam as its counselorrr” K’Nala looked at the PADD she brought with her and then back at the class “Yourrr assignments are Cadet dal Khelan, command you will be my XO”
A proud smile came on Threx face, “Naturally” He praised himself.
“Cadet zh’Rekkath, you will be the Security/Tactical, Cadet Norrin you will be the intelligence” Seeing an excited Alara and less trilled Rhixa response, K’Nala continued “Cadet th’Vorrrek you will be diplomacy”
K’Nala nodded to Shaari. “Ma’am, its the Vorek.”
Was the cadet making fun of her slur? K’Nala just nodded and continued “Duly noted, cadet Verrrik you will be in charge of Science, while cadet Nohr will be in medical” They both nodded as K’Nala eyes stopped at Eli’s green hair “Cadet Jansen I presume….”
“The one and only” He winked at K’Nala and smiled.
This cadet will be a pain in the ass for her, K’Nala shrugs and nods slowly “Engineering” Looking at Jorven “Cadet Relkar, you will be in charrrge of Operations. We will be departing within 24-hours. Ourrr assignment is to explorrre the edge of the Grrrim Wall. I will take contrrrol of the helm” She rather wanted to control the ship herself, then let a cadet deal with the anomalies of the Grim Wall “If you have questions, you can send them to me. For now preparrre forrr the journey”
With that she and Hefaam move out of the class letting them chitchat among themselves “Lieutenant, what is your opinion about this class” a question that came from Hefaam.
Taking a deep breath as they walk “They are an energetic bunch of cadets” K’Nala knows that they will become a headache “But they will manage, they got selected forrr this assignment forr good reasons. Let’s see what they can do in the field” K’Nala doesn’t even know she can do what is expected, let alone these cadets. Simple mission, get in the field, do the research and back. That is all. Right?
