Location: USS Paso Robles, Cargo Bay 1
“You really did not have to come down here to assist me T’Shan!” Lira suggested it to her Vulcan friend. She thought it was sweet of her to do so, but it was time consuming and resource consuming. Lira knew that her services could be utilized on other parts of the ship.
Lira really did appreciate the sentiment nonetheless. She continued her counts on a cargo container she was inspecting. Her Vulcan friend’s response was very sweet. And unlike most Vulcans that Lira knew.
“Commander Solwick, would disagree with your assessment, Lira.” T’Shan started to say in a sterile like tone. She was happy to see Lira, but she knew her friend was right. Logically her services could be better utilized elsewhere. But the First Officer assigned her to assist Lira.
“Any idea on what type of mission we are going on?” Lira asked, wondering if T’Shan had anything up on the bridge. She knew that T’Shan served on the bridge, and surely the staff had been talking about the upcoming mission.
“I have heard of a mission being called, Project Nightfall. I am not sure what it is, my clearance levels have not been granted yet. Lieutenant Thorne, says I will have access later on today.” T’Shan simply explained to Lira.
“I have no doubt he must be busy, getting 300 personnel there security clearances can not be an easy assignment. Especially with our launch window being really soon.” Lira suggested, wondering how poor Jaxon was handling the stress.
“We can not help him, right now we made sure these supplies are stored away, so the Paso Robles is ready to launch.” T’Shan said, trying to keep them focused.
“If you’re gonna stay, you can take this,” Lira said as she gave her a data pad, and then continued on. “Start from the bottom up. We need to verify all the crates, and make sure we are good to go.”
“Understood.” T’Shan simply said, as she took the data pad, and started to help Lira inventory the crates. She went directly into her work, trying not to be a burden to Lira. They had a job to complete.
Lira’s mind was trying to process what their mission could be. “Maybe we will be on a humanitarian mission, delivering supplies to a colony close to the brink of starving. A lot of these parts could be used to fix broken economy size replicators.”
“That is a possibility, without knowing any of the facts, a blind logical guess says there is a 23.6% chance these are replicator parts.” T’Shan said, trying to reassure her friend.
‘23% that’s it?“ Lira said, a little sad. She was expecting her guess to be a lot higher.
“Point six.” T’Shan said, as she corrected her friend.
“How can I forget point six.” Lira said rhetorically. She was trying to be snarky, it just came out naturally that way.
T’Shan just gave her a traditional vulcan eyebrow raise, and went back to work.
“Okay, okay. I’m sorry.” Lira said, feeling a little guilty for teasing her friend.
Deep down T’Shan was touched that she appologized, but the Vulcan in her said. “I have never understood why other races always feel the need to appologize, when they believe people’s feelings are hurt.”
“It’s polite to apologize to someone when you believe you may have hurt their feelings. But you know this already, girl.” Lira pointed out to her.
“Indeed.” T’Shan said, as she completed her count on the crate she was working on.
“Were you trying to make a joke, or am I imagining it?” Lira asked with a big grin on her face. She sort of sensed it more telepathically than by just looking at her.
“Indeed, but something tells me you just did a surface level scan, and just detected my attempt.” T’Shan said, trying to be funny again.
“You might be onto something there my friend.” Lira said as they two ladies continued to banter on, as they started to complete the inventory checks. Thanks to there bantering, they were able to complete the assignment in half of the time.
Location: USS Paso Robles, Lounge
“You know we make a good team.” Lira suggested to T’Shan. As both ladies walked into the lounge area, I took a seat over near the window.
“Agreed, I find working with you does increase my level of productivity.” T’Shan freely admitted.
“I have to admit that I find that my own productivity increases when I’m working with you.” Lira suggested to T’Shan.
“Well I hope your herbal tea suits you too well today.” Lira suggested as they both walked over to the bar. She knew her friend would not drink alcohol, but she would definitely was interested in a tasty beverage.
“And I hope your warp core breach is tasty, I believe that’s the word you requested of me to say in these circumstances?” T’Shan said, feeling a little silly for saying, ‘tasty.’ Even though she wouldn’t Express her emotions on the outside, and the inside she thought it was a little silly.
Both ladies went to sit down, as they looked at the sixth person booth seat, and Lira felt a little guilty for taking up a whole big section for just the two of them. Typically Ensign Voss and Ensign Kroll would join them, but both of the officers were still completing their assignments. It was the end of the day and it was supposed to be a time to relax and unwind.
However the Paso Robles needed to launch as soon as possible, and there’s going to be a staff meeting in the morning. Lira and to T’Shan tonight to be a celebration of everything they had accomplished. The crew had managed to get the old gal up and running. That was no small feat. The ship had been mothballed for years and she was missing components plus she needed to be stocked up and supplied at the same time it was no small feat.
“I thought for sure Kroll and Voss would be joining us tonight.” T’Shan said to her good friend. She took the drinks from the bartender, and joined Lira at the booth.
“They probably just got busy, they would be here if they could, I know they would.” Lira suggested to T’Shan.
“No we could focus on why our two friends are not with us probably because of work but honestly I want to know the scoop. What’s going on with you and Anson Raymond?” Lira asked, Anson was an Ensign aboard the ship.
“He is a fellow officer, and we both serve together. If you’re implying there’s some kind of romantic connection between us, I regret to inform you that we are only friends.”
“The two of you seem to be talking it up.” Lira pointed out to T’Shan. Lira thought they might have a spark.
“Your perception was misguided, he kept asking lots and lots of questions and I was just answering his questions. I found it to be, tiresome.” T’Shan simply responded.
“I see, did you find it tiresome because you were not interested in him or was the tiresome because the questions were obnoxiously simple to answer?” Lira asked, trying to see how T’Shan saw Anson.
“I suppose the latter of your statement would be accurate. It definitely felt like he was trying to keep the conversation going by asking questions he already knew the answers too.” T’Shan said as she took a sip of her tea.
“What about you Miss Chameer, when is your betrothed supposed to come aboard the Paso Robles?” T’Shsn asked, thinking it was only fair to ask about her love life.
“Why do you want to know about Jaxon? If you’re wondering why it’s not with us tonight, He is still giving everybody permissions. The poor guy.” Lira suggested to T’Shan.
“Are you both still planning to go through with your wedding?” T’Shan asked, curious to know when I would exactly take place.
“That’s the plan, right now there’s the family Dynamics and logistics side of that equation.” Lira planted out to her, even on Vulcan it wasn’t unusual to have an arranged marriage. Even though lately they have allowed Vulcans to choose if they want to participate in an arrange marriage, the option was still there for them.
“Please keep me apprised, I want to go to your wedding despite my reservations about your cultural requirements for your wedding.” That was T’Shan’s polite way of saying she wasn’t sure if she wanted to get naked, just to attend the wedding.
“I will, trust me I want you there.” Lira said as it scene starts to fade away.
